What is Dynamo
The alternator or alternator is the component of the car, where it converts the mechanical energy it receives from the engine of the vehicle into electricity. This achieves on the one hand the continuous charging of the battery and on the other hand the power supply of the car.
The first dynamos were direct current generators, while today the type of alternating current dynamo prevails. These produce three-phase current, but inside there are rectifiers (transformers), which convert the alternating voltage into direct current.
What is a starter and what is it used for?
The starter is a small electric motor, which is powered by the battery at start-up to give the engine the start-up speed required to overcome the inertia of its masses, until it runs on its own. This way it is able to activate your engine when you turn the key or in the most modern vehicles, when you press the start button.
It is therefore mounted on the side of the engine with its head in the flywheel chamber. The transmission from the starter to the engine is done with a pair of gears, which have a large gear ratio. The smallest wheel is called a coil and is attached to the starter shaft. The largest is a serrated hoop or sprocket around the flywheel. The coil and the rim do not engage permanently but only at the start. At the moment of the clutch and only with the appropriate amount of electricity that is fed to the starter from the battery, your engine starts to run.
